VHF Marine Radio Courses

This one-day shore based marine radio course covers the new Global Maritime Distress & Safety System (GMDSS), and is essential for any boat owner or user of a marine radio.

The Short Range Certificate (SRC) is the radio operator qualification, which authorises the holder to operate a VHF Radiotelephone, fitted with Digital Selective Calling (DSC) on board any British vessel, which is voluntarily fitted with radio equipment.

Minimum pre-course experience: None - but knowledge of the phonetic alphabet is useful.

Please remember that it is illegal to use a marine VHF radio (includes hand held radios) unless you hold a short range certificate, or a VHF certificate
(the predecessor to short range certificate)
unless you are under the direct supervision of someone that does.
