Youth Sailing

7Marine is not AALA recognised, so any person under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their parents and if under 16yrs will be issued with the appropriate Young Sailor Certificate.

We support Barry Youth Watersports, which is a members organisation, and run their own courses using our equipment and facilities

RYA Level 1 Dinghy Sailing

A Level 1 course is two day (16hr) course providing an introduction to dinghy sailing. At the end of the course you will have had an introduction to the sport of sailing.

RYA Level 2 Dinghy Sailing

Successful completion of an RYA Level 2 Course means that you have demonstrated that you can sail safely in light wind conditions (up to force 3) and are aware of the safety procedures involved in dinghy sailing.
This is two day (16hr) course, which follows on from the Level 1 Course.

RYA Dinghy Seamanship Course

The RYA Seamanship Module is designed to improve your sailing skills and improve your competence so that you can tackle stronger winds and more involved situations. Whilst the course can be taken immediately following a Level 2 Course, we recommend that you consolidate your experience by doing some independent sailing before doing this course.

Personal Tuition

All tuition has to be personally tailored, because of the tidal nature of Barry Harbour. The boats can be accessed 4hrs either side of high water and this varies daily. Sailing is also a sport that is weather dependent and too little or too much wind can have an influence on the programme. For these reasons we would ask that you call to discuss your individual requirements.

Whilst we can do individual tuition it is much better if there are two people, as you can then have a break and consolidate your knowledge. The maximum number of students in the Wayfarer is three

There is no need to purchase expensive equipment before doing a course. We will supply a buoyancy aid and all you need are some waterproofs and soft soled shoes, full details will be sent on confirmation of your booking.
