Established in 1998, (formly BIPS) the centre
staff have many years of boating experience, this ranges from working on commercial and passenger boats, in the Bristol
Channel, to river and canal cruising.
The aim of
the school is to give everyone who attends a boat-handling course a good basic knowledge on how to stay safe on the water
and enjoy their boating at the same time; we don’t run 101 different courses we just concentrate on the basics
Our operating area takes in the Bristol Channel between Barry
and Cardiff along the S.Wales coast. This gives us excellent scope for training as the area offers sheltered waters,
tidal harbours with old style step accesses contrasted with the more modern marinas with pontoons and locks to use ideal for
people who are new to boating, And the Bristol Channel with it’s islands Sully, Flat Holm, Steep Holm and large
amount of commercial shipping with lots of different buoys and marks to identify and navigate around, which also has the world’s
second highest and one of fastest tidal ranges can be a challenge even for the more experienced power boater. All together places to suit every one.
